Introduction
The last decade of the 20th century witnessed a tremendous revolution in information technology , popularity called as "IT" , applied vigorously in the fields of health care , education , entertainment and almost in every facet of life . Because of this integrated technology , which integrates computer , magnetic storage media , television , telecommunication , industries , progress and prosperity has been accelerated , life has been comfortable , the world has been smaller . Fortunately , India is going to be a super power in the field of IT and computer education is being imparted in schools and colleges , in private institutions as well .
Beginning of IT Revolution
The story of computer is not so old . The increased demand in human brain for accurate and instant mathematical calculation , neccesiated computer just after the second world war and in 1954 the world's first computer just after the second world war and in 1954 the world's first computer , ENIAC was possible . At first it was a mere electronic calculating machine . Later it look frequent modifications , rapid changes and now 80% computing is nonmathematical type . This has enabled IT revolution throughout the world . We can get fingertip information sitting in the drawing room , can watch cricket match at Lord's in England and a doctor at the operation theatre can get time to time tips from . California and make the surgical hazard possible .
IT Revolution in India
India is heading towards a software superpower in the recent years . A national task force on information technology and software development was formed in May 1998 . The task force recommended the transformation of every STD/IST booth in the country into an information kiosk . This will provide people internet connection and e-mail , facilities . Attempts were taken to computerise all the central and state government departments and to make the staff computerise . In consequence , hyderbad , Banglore and Gurgaon turned to be the hubs of global , software development .
Since the demand on computer grew , computer engineers in both software and hardware were required and the government as well as private oraganisations opened computer training academies to impart this education . Internet network revolutionised IT as man could have an easy acess to information thrpugh internet . With the click of a mouse one can browse through the different sites available on the internet and can get his required data . It helps E-commerce which helps global market . Internet surfing has become one of the latest passions of the Indian youth .
The government passed the information technology act , 2000 which provided legal framework to facilitate electronic commerce and transaction . Vidya vahini and gyan vahini under the department of information technology are working to computerate the school and college students to provide IT infrastructure at all the higher learning institutions in the country . Now Telecom department , nationalised banks , postal departments are extensively using the knowledge of internet as a result a man anywhere in the country can do shopping , encash cheque , get any valuable information . The ministers , collectors sitting in their offices are getting every data , reviewing the works , preparing budget because of this IT facility . The prime minister , chief ministers are communicating with people , listening to their grievances through GRAMSAT programmes .
Conclusion
IT industry is flourishing and more intellectual youth are being attracted towards it , as it gives dignity , status and higher salary . Job satisfication is also another profit . IT developments has made the globe a home and made life smoother , easier . Today a man feels ashamed to be incomputerate . Let's be a part in IT industry .
